Katherine Lalancette’s Top Winter Beauty Must-Haves

Editor’s Note: Each month, top beauty editors select their top five winter beauty obsessions for 2018. This month, Katherine Lalancette joins us and chooses her top beauty must-haves to go with her official Golden Globes look.

This January, my beauty routine revolves around a few items that I can’t live without. Either they’re top fall must-haves or they perfectly complement fall’s most gorgeous autumnal skin tone. For the first time this season, my final beauty look was a hot pink, glossy glam thing. To me, this looked like a perfect antidote to the cold months ahead. And that’s exactly why it was so on-point to capture on camera. So my ultimate fashion inspiration for January came from my very own signature lip and eye looks.

Backstage at the Golden Globes on Sunday evening, I was inspired by my red carpet look. I paired the lip color I wore with my new, tweezer-laden Kiss & Tell palette. I pulled the eyeshadow shade from the Oof the Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette which was a hit in our office. I also shared with my makeup artist, Natalie Morales, the cool “m-dents” that I wanted on the lips. She took to the next level with high-shine lip gloss—something that I only used when I did red carpet events in seasons past.

Now that I’m done editing, I can finally share my facial essentials. I use the Wella Paris Aqua 3M Touch-Up Cleanser every morning and night as a de-puffing masque. I also like the SPF makeup wipes from EOS—and I always turn to a clear cleaner—because it makes me so much less likely to need a makeup wipe on a typical day. My nasal wash is by scrubsbymarshmallow and I swear by a trial-and-error approach. I make sure I rinse my face through as many different brands as possible so that I can test several different brands. It’s definitely not simple, but I trust my own nose and hands to tell me which one keeps me looking fresh and stress-free. As for my nightly face mask, I use Becca NatureLuxe Biore Gel-Lime Mask to stay healthy.

My motto when it comes to makeup is clear skin with a neutral face color. I try to break my skin up and stay out of the makeup closet. I also never like to wear a matte or overly oily makeup look because my complexion doesn’t react well to it. One favorite concealer tip I picked up from Sephora is the Cellulite Serum available online as well as the Biologique Recherche. It’s a popular concealer pressed that you can swab onto anything that is dark, shiny, or grainy on your skin, then rub into the problem area. It actually helps blot out all the oil and dirt, and makes the tiniest bit of dark, fine lines look even darker. This might sound like a no-brainer, but I have noticed that nearly every client recently looking makeup-free or super-smoky is sporting an extremely strong, intense fragrance or perfume. I absolutely refuse to wear anything perfume-y or luscious on my skin and I’ve decided that I will just use some incredibly rich, plush packaging to carry my essentials. So I choose Perfume Mirror by Eva Nevarez.
